Brian Eno – Ambient: Music For Airports – 2/1

Rate this station

The first of Brian Eno’s four albums released formally under the ‘Ambient’ banner, Music For Airports consists of four compositions designed to be looped as a sound installation within an airport terminal, so as to re-engineer the atmosphere of the space, creating a more relaxed, less anxious environment. For these compositions Eno called upon long-standing collaborators Robert Wyatt and Rhett Davies, working with loops of piano, synthesizer and vocals, all set up to run in and out of phase with one another. The results are marvellous – not to mention hugely influential. Another classic.
