“The song Siphon was written about a family member who attempted suicide multiple times last summer. Making a video for this song felt nearly impossible. The subject matter is so personal, I wasn’t sure there could be a way to visualize it beyond what my family and I had already lived through. In the end, I think the video could have only existed in the way you will see it: raw, grotesque, vulnerable, ugly.

The video’s a representation of the struggle to reach someone with depression. The more you try to reach out, the further it pushes you away. So you push harder. You grab on and lock hands with the person you’re trying to save. You’ll do anything to save them from the stupor they’re losing themselves to. As the haze between you grows thicker and more impenetrable, the desperation to save them becomes just as all-consuming. You hold tighter and tighter, refusing to lose your grip.”
