To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Majesty guitar, John Petrucci and Ernie Ball Music Man concocted some magnificent new finishes.

“I literally saw these guitars moments before this interview, and I’m just floored,” says Petrucci. “I’m blown away. I think these are the best colors we’ve collectively come up with so far—which is a huge statement because the finishes have always been incredible.”

There are five new colors in the Majesty line—across 6-, 7- and 8-string configurations—and three for the Ball Family Reserve (BFR) 6- and 7-string Majesty versions.

The BFR finishes are Arctic Aurora (“It’s based on the Northern Lights,” says Petrucci), Blue Ink and Red Nebula, which was inspired by how much he loved his Purple Nebula Majesty.

The remaining five finishes are Blue Silk, Black Frosting, Gravity Green (“It reminds me of Wicked the Musical, but I couldn’t call it ‘Elphaba,’ could I?), Her Majesty’s Request (“My wife, Rena, asked for an iridescent white finish, so…”) and Oxblood (“Oh, I named this one before I saw it, and as it appears more pomegranate-y, I may have to rename it.”).
