Tones And I – Dance Monkey | Kronendal Music Academy

Here’s another one from the beautiful people at Kronendal Music Academy (@magsdean) in South Africa. In the process of posting my last piece with them, I stumbled upon this video of their students singing and dancing so freely and joyfully to ‘Dance Monkey’ by Tones And I. Knowing of some of the challenges they’ve faced and overcome, seeing this brought tears to my eyes. I think we can all learn something from them—to be able to welcome the gift of life right here and now in spite of where we’ve come from or our current circumstances. And music, for whatever reason, seems to be a universally potent medium of facilitating that.

Kronendal Music Academy understands this, and has used music as a vessel to support their students in healing, growing, and strengthening their character, while providing a platform for deepening communal cohesion. I’m so grateful to know that an organization like this exists. What an amazing proof of concept.
